Photo voltaic installations are an increasingly popular source of energy. Problems arise when the energy produced is not used in its entirety, , as demand for it varies, depending on the time of day or year. Where does this unused energy go? Back to the network, from which we can in theory take maximally 80% of it, although in practice this value can be much lower. Help arrives in the form of home-based energy storage solutions which allow the prosumer to store the energy produced and use it at the right time. These systems are ideal for homes, places with difficult connections to the grid, and those with frequent power outages.
The main advantage of battery packs is that prosumers can receive the energy produced by their installation without loss. When balancing, there is a loss of a minimum of 20% generated by the power panels that the power plant is collecting. Battery packs help to reduce these losses.
The development of the energy storage market is contingent on the need to stabilize the network, for which congestion is becoming an increasing problem. Grid instability is a problem which the greatest players in the energy market have to face. In addition, large energy companies are committed to increasing their share of renewable energy sources, as they will become a huge economic potential in the near future. The use of energy produced and stored in the home energy storage eliminates the problem of loss on transmission and the need for continuous investment in distributed infrastructure, currently making energy storage the optimal solution for both prosumers and largest energy companies in Poland.
